Arsenal have been handed a major double injury boost with Danny Welbeck and Alexis Sanchez set to be passed fit to face Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, according to the Mirror.

Welbeck hasn’t featured for the Gunners since scoring during a 2-1 win over West Ham on Boxing Day after picking up a thigh injury at Upton Park.

The injury was initially only expected to keep the 23-year-old out for a maximum of two weeks but it turned out to be more serious than first thought and he’s been forced to sit out the last six weeks.

However, Arsene Wenger told reporters last week that the striker was close to making his comeback and the Mirror are claiming today that Welbeck is now back in full training and will be fit to return to the squad this weekend.

In what’s a double boost for Arsenal the newspaper also suggests that Alexis Sanchez is set to make the trip to White Hart Lane on Saturday after missing Sunday’s 5-0 win over Aston Villa with a minor hamstring injury.

The return of the duo will give Arsene Wenger a welcome selection headache in attack as the Gunners go into the game off the back of an impressive run of form with the fit-again Mesut Ozil and Theo Walcott both getting on the score-sheet in their last two games.

Sanchez is almost certain to return to the starting eleven against Spurs but it remains to be seen who will make way for the Chilean international as all of Arsenal’s attackers were in impressive form during Sunday’s victory over Villa.

Welbeck will have a real fight on his hands to displace Olivier Giroud up front as the Frenchman has been leading the line expertly in recent weeks, but Wenger will be pleased to have a variety of options heading into what will be a vital North London Derby this weekend.

Arsenal go into the game sitting two points clear of Spurs in fifth place with just three points separating third from sixth, so this match will have a huge say in how the top four will shape-up at the end of the season.
