[Image] Per Mertesacker Reveals Picture Of Badly Bruised & Swollen Ankle

By  Published: 13th February 2012

Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker has posted an image of his injured ankle on his official Facebook page and it has to be said it doesn’t look good!

Big Per pulled up with the injury during the second half of Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Sunderland and Arsene Wenger immediately ruled him out of Wednesday’s trip to face AC Milan, stressing the club would need to take a few days to assess the full extend of the injury.

Now Mertesacker has posted the image (below) which shows severe bruising and swelling around his right ankle/foot:

He accompanied the picture with a caption saying:

“What a bummer. The foot doesn’t look too good and I have to wait for the physical examination. Right now I’m living with uncertainty…”

Many are worried that Per has torn a ligament or snapped a tendon and either of those would pretty much rule him out for the rest of the season, which would be a devastating blow for both club and player. He was just starting to settle in to his role and now it looks like a serious injury is threatening to cut short his first season.

Lets hope once the swelling goes down and the injury is assessed we have some good news, because we could do with the gentle giant for the important three months ahead.

Get well soon big-man. you can check the picture of the injury out for yourself, and leave your messages to Mertesacker on his official Facebook page.
