Wojciech Szczesny enjoyed a great season between the sticks during his first full season as Arsenal No.1. The confident young keeper has become something of a fan favourite at the Emirates and i’m sure i’m not the only Gooner who hopes to see the ‘Pole between the goal’ at the Emirates for years to come.
Szczesny’s season began with what is arguably not only his best ever save, but probably his most important to date, when he denied Udinese’s Di Natalie from the spot with a stunning save that all but ensured Arsenal’s progress to the champions league group stages. Another stand-out moment of the season for me was the double save to deny Dirk Kuyt first from the spot then his follow up at Anfield. Arsenal ended up winning that game 2-1 and it was a vital result in setting us up on a great mid-season charge back into the top three.
His form did dip slightly towards the end of the season but we’ve now learned he’s been playing with an injury for nearly two months and was forced to have pain killing injections before games, so that may go some way to explaining his patchy late season form. Here’s a compilation of Szczesny’s best bits of 2011/12, what’s your favourite moment?
He’s a good keeper but we need one of him
He’s a good keeper
Wojciech’s first EPL match was away at manure. The ball hit the cross bar and a goal kick was given. The replay showed that Wojciech had tipped the ball onto the bar.
Wojciech had arrived and was here to stay. Long may it be so.
Since the war we have had some great stoppers Swindon, Kelsey, Wilson, Jennings, Seaman Lenmen. Wojciech has the potential to be the best of them all.
There is one aspect of his game that only Kelsey had and that his is ability to communcate his enthusiasm to everyone in the stadium.
He’s a best keeper for this season
A fantastic GK by all standards
His the best keeper so far, he have a good season, but we need sm1 dat can chalenge him
