[Video Goals] Chelsea 1-1 Burnley: 10-Man Blues Held At The Bridge

By on February 21, 2015

Chelsea let slip two vital points as Burnley came from a goal down to grab an unlikely 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge this afternoon.

The Blues opened the scoring early on when Eden Hazard jinked his way through the Burnley defence before cutting it back for Branislav Ivanovic who converted from close range for 1-0.

However, the game turned on its head when Nemanja Matic was sent off midway through the second half after shoving Ashley Barnes to the ground following a rash challenge from the midfielder – which went unpunished.

Burnley took full advantage of their extra man as Ben Mee headed home from a corner in the 80th minute to snatch a surprise point against the league leaders.

Chelsea’s lead can be cut to just five points if Man City beat Newcastle this evening, but Jose Mourinho will feel aggrieved that his side weren’t awarded at least two stone wall penalties this afternoon.
