Man Utd Ready To Battle Chelsea Over €40m Argentinean

Manchester United are now ready to battle-it-out with the likes of Chelsea over the signing of €40m-rated Palermo striker Paulo Dybala this summer.

The January transfer window is now closed but that won’t stop the newspapers from speculating ahead of the summer so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Man Utd ready to battle Chelsea for Paulo Dybala….

Manchester United are now ready to battle-it-out with the likes of Chelsea over the signing of €40m-rated Palermo striker Paulo Dybala this summer, according to reports.

Dybala has emerged as one of the most sought-after youngsters in European football this season and scored his 12th goal in 23 Serie A appearances during Sunday’s 2-1 defeat away at Lazio.

Understandably, the 21-year-old has been attracting interest from a whole host of top clubs with reports last week suggesting that Chelsea were in pole position to land the striker after supposedly putting the ground-work in place over a summer move.

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini confirmed recently that he’ll sell Dyabala after he turned down their latest contract extension offer and named Chelsea, PSG and Juventus as three of the club who’ve already tabled an offer for the player:

“I will sell him, I am almost certain of this,”

“(Juventus general director Giuseppe) Marotta told me that they are very interested in the player.

“They (Juve) are ready to negotiate. I have warned Marotta already that I’ve had so many offers for Dybala from half of the teams in Europe. Chelsea, PSG and other English and Spanish clubs.”

“We had an agreement with Dybala for 9million (euros a year) but the next day everything changed,”

“I was told that Dybala would no longer sign and that he now wanted up to 15million (euros) in wages. No way!”

“This is the fault of those that surround him. They have made him lose all sense of reality.

“I had treated him like a son having spent 12million euros to acquire him. I will not speak to Dybala again. I will appoint a company to negotiate Dybala’s sale.”

Zamparini is quoted as saying by Sky Sports

However, the Express claim that Manchester United have now joined the race for Dybala’s signature with Louis van Gaal understood to be keen on luring the Argentinean hitman to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are highly unlikely to take up the option to make Radamel Faclao’s loan move permanent this summer so the Dutchman appears to have short-listed Dybala as a potential replacement for the Colombian.

The youngster will enter the final year of his contract this summer but reports claim Palermo will still demand a fee in the region of €40m (£30m) and while that may seem like a lot for a player who’s only really just really started to prove himself at the highest level, I’m sure they’ll still find a club willing to pay that sort of money in today’s over-inflated market.
