Arsenal remain in third place in the Premier League table after a 2-1 victory over Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road on Wednesday night.

After both sides failed to find a breakthrough in a fairly poor first half, the Gunners opened the scoring midway through the second half when Olivier Giroud was on hand to poke home from close range for 1-0.

It was 2-0 minutes later as Alexis Sanchez ended his seven-game goal drought with a fine solo effort as he jinked his way into the box before beating Rob Green at his near post with a low strike.

QPR pulled one back in the 83rd minute when Charlie Austin fired home from the edge of the area for 1-2 but despite some late pressure from the hosts, we held on to secure a vital three points.

The win ensured we remain third in the table, just ahead of the chasing pack with Man Utd, Liverpool and Tottenham all also winning this evening.
