Wenger Makes 3 Changes: Predicted Arsenal Starting XI To Take On Man Utd

By on March 8, 2015

Arsenal will be looking to book their place in the semi finals of the FA Cup when they take on Man Utd at Old Trafford on Monday night. Here is the side Gooner Mac thinks Arsene Wenger will select:

Goalkeeper: Wenger has already confirmed that Wojceich Szczesny will return to the side if he passes a late  fitness test after missing the midweek win over QPR through illness. This will be an excellent opportunity for the Polish international to stake his claim for the No.1 shirt.

Defence: Gabriel Paulista has started the last two games but is set to miss the rest of the month after picking up a hamstring injury at Loftus Road. Laurent Koscielny was rested for that match so is set to return alongside Per Mertesacker tomorrow. Hector Bellerin should keep his place on the right side of defence while Kieran Gibbs is favourite to start on the left with Nacho Monreal a doubt with a back problem.

Midfield: Francis Coquelin put in a superb performance at QPR despite wearing a protective face mask so there’s no reason he won’t continue in the holding role against United. Aaron Ramsey made his comeback with a late substitute appearance last time out and I expect he’ll be restored to the starting eleven with Tomas Rosicky the man to drop out as Santi Cazorla is almost certain to retain his place. Jack Wilshere, Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini are still out injured.

Attack: Mesut Ozil was excellent against QPR with the German regularly switching positions with Alexis Sanchez and I can see the duo once again starting on the wings tomorrow with Olivier Giroud spearheading the attack. This would mean Danny Welbeck and Theo Walcott will be among the substitutes again.

Here is how I think we’ll see Arsenal line-up:

What do you think? What line-up would you like to see start?
