Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is eyeing moves for Neven Subotic and Morgan Schneiderlin as part of a £50m triple swoop this summer, according to the Telegraph.

The newspaper claims that Wenger will be handed a transfer budget of around £50m at the end of the season and the Gunners supremo is looking to spend it on a goalkeeper, centre-back and central midfielder.

Francis Coquelin has been outstanding since returning to the club but with Abou Diaby and Mathieu Flamini expected to leave this summer, it’s understood the bosses main priority will be to sign a holding midfielder and the Telegraph suggest we’ll make a formal move for Southampton ace Schneiderlin.

We’ve been strongly linked with the French international over the past two years so it wouldn’t be a surprise if we did renew our interest again and I think he’d be an excellent addition who’d give us real depth in front of our back four.

Defence is another area of concern for Wenger and despite signing Calum Chambers and Gabriel Paulista over the past two transfer windows, it appears the boss is still keen on further strengthening his options at the back and the Telegraph suggest that he’s identified Dorussia Dortmund’s Neven Subotic as a key target.

Apparently we’ve been scouting the Serbian international this season ahead of a potential move this summer. Subotic has been central to Dortmund’s success in recent years so I’m sure they’ll do all they can to hang on to him but if we do end up signing him then it would put Per Mertesacker’s future at the club in serious doubt.

The giant German has endured a difficult season and with him approaching his 31st birthday, the arrival of someone like Subotic would likely spell the end of his time at the Emirates.

The final signing Wenger is planning is a new goalkeeper. Wojciech Szczesny has been axed as No.1 since his disappointing display at Southampton on New Years Day and while David Ospina has performed admirably in his absence, the boss is supposedly still looking to bring in a commanding stopper this summer.

I think it’s safe to say Arsene has lost faith in Szczesny so if another goalkeeper arrives, I think we’ll see the Polish international leave the club. If we do bring in a keeper I just hope we opt for an established No.1 and not take a punt on someone’s who’s unproven.

The Mirror claim we are interested in Petr Cech and he’d be open to the move as it would mean he could stay in London, but it remains to be seen whether Chelsea would sell to a direct rival.

If we could sign Cech, Subotic and Schneiderlin then we’d have a superb squad that’s well balanced and capable of mounting a serious challenge for the Premier League title next season, so fingers crossed the boss can pull it off.
