[Video Goals] Man Utd 3-0 Tottenham: Rooney Delivers Knockout Blow Against Spurs

Manchester United cemented their place in the top four with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane this afternoon.

United opened the scoring in the ninth minute when Michael Carrick released Marouane Fellaini with a lovely through-ball and the Belgian international raced clear to slot home a precise left-footed finish for 1-0.

The hosts soon doubled their advantage as Carrick was on hand to head home after being left free in the area following a corner in the 19th minute and it was 3-0 before half-time as Wayne Rooney bundled his way through a leaky Spurs defence to slot past Hugo Lloris.

Spurs rallied in the second half but failed to make the breakthrough that would give them a foothold in the game and United eased to a comfortable win in the end.

The victory sees United move five points clear of Liverpool and close the gap on second-placed Manchester City to just two points.
