Chelsea To Make Tempting Offer For €48m-Rated Man Utd Target
Chelsea are ready to tempt Atletico Madrid into selling Koke this summer by offering Filipe Luis as part exchange for the €48m-rated Manchester United target
The January transfer window may be closed but that won’t stop the newspapers from speculating ahead of the summer so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Chelsea are linked with Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke….
Chelsea are ready to tempt Atletico Madrid into selling Koke this summer by offering Filipe Luis as part exchange for the €48m-rated Manchester United target, according to reports.
Jose Mourinho is expected to invest heavily in his squad this summer after seeing his side come up short in Europe having been dumped out of the Champions League by 10-man Paris Saint-Germain last week.
The Evening Standard claim that the Portuguese coach has identified Koke as a key target and is now ready to use out-of-favour full-back Luis as bait to land the talented midfielder.
Luis only moved to Stamford Bridge 10 months ago from Atletico but he’s struggled to establish himself as a regular in Mourinho’s starting eleven and has only managed to make six starts in the Premier League this season.
The newspaper suggests that Diego Simeone will explore the opportunity to take him back to the Vicente Calderon this summer and it appears Chelsea are ready to use their interest to try and land Koke.
The Spanish midfielder has been in excellent form for Atletico over the past 18 months and reportedly attracted interest from Chelsea and Manchester United last summer before signing a new long-term deal in June that included a €48m release clause.
While Madrid are keen to keep hold of the 23-year-old, they are still in financial difficulty despite winning La Liga and reaching the Champions League final last season, so they could be tempted to cash-in especially if they get Luis in return as well as a sizeable transfer fee.
It remains to be seen whether Man Utd will step up their interest if Atletico do decide to sell Koke, but Chelsea should be in the box seat considering they are willing to offer Luis and the fact they enjoy a very positive relationship with the Spaniard’s having done plenty of business with them in recent years.
Koke would be a sensational signing for any club that was successful in luring him away from Atletico. He’s one of the most talented young midfielders in Europe and has all the attributes to become a world class player, so it would be great to see him plying his trade here in England.
However, there’s still a long way to go before that becomes a reality but this is certainly one transfer story that’s worth keeping a close eye on over the coming months.
