Chelsea Team News: Mourinho Confirms Midfielder Will Miss Hull Clash

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed he’ll be without the services of one of his midfielders for Sunday’s trip to Hull City. Find out who here.

Chelsea will look to tighten their grip at the top of the Premier League table when they take on Hull City on Sunday afternoon.

Ahead of the game, boss Jose Mourinho has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and gave reporters a team news and injury update.

Mourinho confirmed that a couple of players are carrying minor knocks and have missed training this week, with Willian understood to be one of those affected, but the Portuguese coach doesn’t think it will be enough to rule any of them out of the trip to the KC Stadium this weekend.

Jose told Chelseafc.com:

‘There are little things that stopped a couple of players from training well during the week but I don’t think it will stop them from playing.’

However, while Mourinho should have almost a fully-fit squad to choose from on Sunday, there is still one player who isn’t available yet as the Blues boss gave the latest on the fitness of John Obi Mikel.

The Nigerian hasn’t featured since early February after undergoing minor surgery on a troublesome knee injury and while the 27-year-old has once again been ruled out to play Hull, Mourinho has revealed that he expects Mikel to be back in training and available for selection after the upcoming international break.

“He [Mikel] is in the end of his recovery and normally after the international period he will be back to training and back to playing,” Mourinho is quoted as saying to reporters.

Chelsea will entertain Stoke at Stamford Bridge on April 4th after the international break and it looks as though Mikle is on course to being in contention to make his long-awaited comeback in that match.

Mourinho’s men head into this weekend’s action sitting six points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table with a game in hand, so they can take another huge step closer to winning the title if they can pick up three points at relegation threatened Hull.
