Arsenal Set To Hijack Man Utd’s €40m Bid, Gunners To Meet Club President This Week

Arsenal are trying to hijack Manchester United’s €40m move for Paulo Dybala and will meet with Palermo officials this week to discuss a deal for the youngster

The January transfer window is now closed but that won’t stop the newspapers from speculating ahead of the summer so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Arsenal step up their interest in Man Utd target Paulo Dybala….

Arsenal are trying to hijack Manchester United’s €40m move for Paulo Dybala and will meet with Palermo officials this week to discuss a deal for the young forward, according to reports.

Dybala has emerged as one of the hottest properties in European football after enjoying an excellent season with Palermo that’s seen him score 12 goals and provide 8 assists in 27 Serie A appearances so far this campaign.

The Argentinean international has understandably been attracting interest with the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Juventus all believed to have been keeping a close eye on his progress.

It looked as though Manchester United had moved into pole position for his signature after reportedly submitting a €40m (£28.9m) offer for the 21-year-old earlier this month.

However, the Express are now citing reports coming out of Italy that claim Arsenal are trying to hijack United’s move and are due to meet with Palermo’s outspoken president, Maurizio Zamparini, this week.

The supremo has previously admitted he speaks regularly with teams in England and hopes to find an agreement over Dybala’s sale this summer:

‘I’m speaking directly to the presidents of the teams interested in England,’

‘There is a lot of interest, the player is very good and we’ll try to find an agreement.’ Zamparini is quoted as saying by the Metro

It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will also step up their interest in the 21-year-old but as of now it appears Arsenal and United are battling-it-out to try and lure the young forward to the Premier League.

However, they may have to work hard to persuade him to come to England as the reports in Italy suggest that Dybala’s preference is to remain in Serie A, which would make Juventus the clear favourites.

As enticing as it may be to play for the Serie A champions, they are still to make a formal move and may not be able to reach an agreement with Palermo, so there is still a strong chance we could see the Argentine forward come to these shores at the end of the season.

Dybala would be an exciting addition for either Arsenal or United and while he’s predominantly been used as a central forward this season, he’s also capable of playing on the wing, so he’d give plenty of options in attack.

But things are moving quickly in this transfer saga and there are lots of teams seemingly in the race for his signature, so we’ll have to wait and see how things develop as we approach the summer.
