[Team] England vs Lithuania: Sterling Supports Rooney In Attack

By on March 27, 2015

England entertain Lithuania at Wembley this evening in their 2016 European Championship qualifier.

Roy Hodgson has resisted the temptation to start in-form Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane as Arsenal’s Danny Welbeck is preferred up front.

Liverpool attacker Raheem Sterling also gets the nod as he also supports Manchester United hitman Wayne Rooney in attack.

As expected, Southampton star Nathaniel Clyne starts at right-back with Gary Cahill, Phil Jones and Leighton Baines making up the rest of the defence.

Aston Villa’s Fabian Delph joins Micheal Carrick and Jordan Henderson in midfield.

Here is the confirmed England line-up for the game:

Hart, Clyne, Cahill, Jones, Baines, Carrick, Henderson, Delph, Sterling, Rooney, Welbeck

Subs: Smalling, Butland, Walcott, Jagielka, Milner, Townsend, Kane, Mason, Barkley, Gibbs, Walker, Green.

What’s your predicted score now we’ve seen the line-up?
