Chelsea have moved seven points clear at the top of the Premier League table after beating Stoke City 2-1 at Stamford Bridge this evening.

The Blues finally broke down the stubborn visitors defence in the 37th minute when Eden Hazard cooly slotted home from the penalty spot after Cesc Fabregas was brought down in the area.

Stoke made it 1-1 just before half-time when Charlie Adam scored a spectacular equaliser as the midfielder lobbed Thibaut Courtois from inside his own half to level things up at the break.

However, Chelsea found a winner in the 62nd minute as Willian pounced on Asmir Begovic’s throw out, the Brazilian fed Eden Hazard who squared for Loic Remy to tap home into the empty net for 2-1.

No further goals were scored so Chelsea move seven points clear of second-placed Arsenal with a game in hand, with Jose Mourinho’s men firmly on course to reclaiming the title.
