“Done Deal” – Man Utd Have Agreed Terms To Sign £15m-Rated Chelsea Target
Man Utd have beaten Chelsea to the signature of Nathaniel Clyne with a journalist describing it as a ‘done deal’ that the full-back will move to Old Trafford
As the opening of the summer transfer window approaches, managers are working hard identifying targets and lining-up potential deals so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Manchester United have supposedly agreed terms to sign Nathaniel Clyne….
Manchester United have beaten Chelsea to the signature of Nathaniel Clyne with a Mirror journalist describing it as a ‘done deal’ that the full-back will move to Old Trafford this summer.
Clyne has been one of the best full-backs in the Premier League over the past two seasons and has established himself as Roy Hodgson’s first choice right-back for the England national team in recent games.
The 24-year-old is set to enter the final year of his contract with Southampton and there are no signs that he’s about to agree fresh terms any time soon.
The defender fuelling speculation he could be set for a move after telling reporters recently that he’s flattered by the interest being shown in him and he’s eager to test himself in the Champions League.
Clyne’s impressive form for the Saints has led to interest from some of the top clubs in Europe with Chelsea and Manchester United reportedly keen on luring him away from St Mary’s this summer.
However, it seems United have stolen a march on the Blues as Mirror journalist David McDonnell has told MUTV that a move to Old Trafford has already been agreed.
As you can see from the Vine below, McDonnell told the club’s official TV channel:
“what I’m told is it’s a done deal”
It remains to be seen how accurate McDonnell’s claims are but Clyne would be an excellent signing if United have already agreed terms to sign him at the end of the season.
Right-back has been a problem area for the club all season with Antonio Valencia forced to deputise in the unfamiliar role as Rafael is clearly out-of-favour under Louis van Gaal.
Southampton are keen to keep hold of Clyne but with the player eyeing Champions League football and set to enter his final year, it’s believed they will be forced to cash-in for around £15m.
That would be an excellent piece of business as United would be getting a top class English full-back who is about to enter his peak years, so I’m sure Red Devils fans will be praying McDonnell’s information is right on this one.
