By on April 26, 2015

Manchester United’s hopes of finishing in the top two were dealt a huge blow after losing 3-0 to Everton at Goodison Park this afternoon.

The Toffees opened the scoring early on as James McCarthy bundles his way through the United defence before cooling slotting past David De Gea for 1-0 in the 4th minute.

The hosts doubled their lead in the 35th minute when John Stone glanced home a superb header to make it 2-0 to Everton at half-time.

United couldn’t find a response after the break and Roberto Martinez’s men sealed the victory when Kevin Mirallas beat the offside trap to slot home the third with 15 minutes remaining.

The defeat leaves United in fourth place in the Premier League table with third-placed Arsenal a point ahead with two games in hand. A top four place should be assured as Liverpool are seven points adrift in fifth with just four games remaining.
