Man Utd Lining-Up €25m Move For Former Real Madrid Ace, Player Keen On Move

As the opening of the summer transfer window approaches, managers are working hard identifying targets and lining-up potential deals so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Man Utd are linked with Ezequiel Garay…..

Manchester United are lining-up a €25m move for former Real Madrid defender Ezequiel Garay with the centre-back understood to be desperate to leave current club Zenit St Petersburg this summer, according to reports.

Garay spent three years at Madrid before making a move to Benfica in 2011 and he went on to become a key part of the Portuguese outfits defence, with his displays at the back helping them lift the Primeira Liga title in 2013/14 as well as make it to consecutive Europa League finals in 2013 and 2014.

United were strongly linked with the Argentinean international last summer but missed out as he made the move to Zenit St Petersburg. However, it appears the Premier League giants are getting ready to renew their interest.

The Express claim that Garay is ‘desperate’ to leave Russia this summer and United are now believed to be lining-up a €25m (£18.5m) bid to offer the defender a fresh start here to England.

Louis van Gaal is likely to be busy in the transfer market once again this summer as he looks to try and build a squad capable of challenging for the title and a new centre-back is expected to be a priority.

Many names have been linked with a move to Old Traffford in recent months but it looks like Garay is back on van Gaal’s radar and the newspaper suggests that the 28-year-old would be keen on a move to the Premier League.

It remains to be seen how Zenit would respond if United did come in with an offer worth €25m but if the player wants out, the Russian giants may find it difficult to turn down.

I’m sure United have several defenders in mind ahead of the summer window but Garay is a realistic target who shouldn’t be too difficult to land, so this is certainly a potential transfer we should keep a close eye on over the coming weeks.
