By on May 16, 2015

Tottenham gave their chances of qualifying for the Europa League a major boost with a 2-0 victory over Hull City at White Hart Lane this afternoon.

The visitors started the brighter of the two sides and almost opened the scoring in the 18th minute as Nikica Jelavic clipped the crossbar, but neither side could find a breakthrough in a low-key opening 45 minutes.

However, Spurs finally broke the deadlock shortly after half-time when Nacer Chadli raced on to Erik Lamela’s fine through-ball before rounding Harper and stroking the ball home into the empty net for 1-0.

It was 2-0 minutes later when Ryan Mason found Danny Rose with a lovely chipped pass and the full-back lashed the ball home on the volley to put Tottenham in control.

Hull continued to create chances during the final stages but Spurs held on to secure the three points and leapfrog Southampton into sixth place heading into the final day of the season.
