[Video Goals] Liverpool 1-3 Crystal Palace: Eagles Gate-Crash Gerrard’s Farewell

By on May 16, 2015

Crystal Palace gatecrashed Steven Gerrard’s farewell party after leaving Anfield with an impressive 3-1 victory on Saturday evening.

The game looked to be going to plan as Adam Lallana opened the scoring midway through the first half when he robbed Scott Dann of possession before firing into the roof of the net.

However, Palace came storming back and levelled things up just before the break when Jason Puncheon curled home a well-placed free-kick for 1-1.

The visitors then took the lead in controversial circumstances when Wilfried Zaha tapped home at the far post just seconds after coming off the bench, but replays showed he was in an offside position.

Liverpool pushed for an equaliser but it was Palace who got another goal and again there was some debate over the awarding of a late penalty, as it looked like Zaha was brought down by Lucas outside the area. Simon Mignolet saved Glenn Murray’s spot kick but the striker tucked away the rebound for 1-3.
