As the opening of the summer transfer window approaches, managers are working hard identifying targets and lining-up potential deals so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Man Utd are ready to make their move for Felipe Anderson….

Manchester United are set to steal a march on Chelsea by tabling a formal €50m bid for highly-rated Lazio attacker Felipe Anderson, according to reports.

Anderson has become one of the most sought-after young players in Europe after enjoying a sensational season in Italy that’s seen him score 11 goals and lay-on 10 assists to help Lazio climb to third in the Serie A table.

His impressive displays have attracted interest from the Premier League with both Chelsea and Manchester United reportedly deploying their scouts to watch the Brazilian attacker in action in recent months.

However, it looks as though United are ready to steal a march on their rivals with the Express citing reports coming out of Italy that claim Louis van Gaal is set to table a formal €50m (£36m) offer for the 22-year-old.

The news originates from Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who claim that Anderson is being lined-up as a potential replacement for Angel Di Maria with the Argentinean tipped to leave Old Trafford after a disappointing debut season in England.

United are expected to be busy in the transfer market this summer as they look to use their financial muscle to build a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League and Champions League next season.

Anderson would be an exciting addition if they could pull it off but I wouldn’t discount Chelsea just yet as they could still step-up their interest if Jose Mourinho feels the player would strengthen the newly-crowned champions.

Lazio are desperate to keep hold of the youngster as they prepare to return to Europe’s elite competition next season but they may be forced to cash-in if the likes of United or Chelsea come in with a tempting offer.

Anderson has been played mostly as a left-sided attacker this season but he’s also capable of playing anywhere across the front three positions so he’d give van Gaal or Mourinho plenty of options if he did make a move to either club this summer.

However, one potential stumbling block over any potential move to England is the fact that Anderson is yet to earn a cap for the Brazilian national team so he may find it difficult gaining a UK work permit.
