Chelsea have confirmed today that playmaker Cesc Fabregas has undergone successful surgery to repair his broken nose.

Fabregas had to wear a protective mask during the closing stages of the season after having his nose broken by Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam earlier this month.

The Spaniard had an operation to try and fix the problem when the incident first happened but it seems Fabregas has still been having trouble breathing in recent weeks and he’s been forced to undergo the knife once again to try and resolve the issue.

The Premier League champions released a statement on Chelseafc.com this evening confirming that the 28-year-old has had successful surgery.

The midfielder had been having difficulty breathing as a result of the injury he sustained during our game against Stoke last month, but after the successful operation the problem has been resolved.

Fabregas has been forced to miss Chelsea’s post-season tour of Thailand and Australia but he has been included in the Spain squad for their upcoming international double-header.

Boss Vicente Del Bosque told reporters earlier this week that he had assurances from the former Barcelona midfielder that he would be fully-fit by June 1st, meaning he’ll be available for their games against Costa Rica and Belarus next month.
