Man Utd Plotting £46.3m Double Swoop For Arsenal & Liverpool Targets

Manchester United are lining-up a double swoop which will cost them £46.3m for Liverpool and Arsenal targets Carlos Bacca and Grzegorz Krychowiak.

As the opening of the summer transfer window approaches, managers are working hard identifying targets and lining-up potential deals so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Man Utd are linked with a double swoop….

Manchester United are lining-up a potential £46.3m double swoop for Liverpool and Arsenal targets Carlos Bacca and Grzegorz Krychowiak, according to the Daily Star.

United achieved their goal of qualifying for the Champions League last season but I fully expect Louis van Gaal to be busy in the transfer market this summer to build a squad capable of challenging for top honours next year.

A whole host of names have been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent months but it looks like van Gaal has set his sights on two of Sevilla’s key players as the Daily Star claim the United boss is lining-up a double swoop for striker Carlos Bacca and midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak.

Bacca has just come off the back of another excellent season in Spain which saw him score 28 goals to help Sevilla finish fifth in La Liga and retain the Europa League trophy, so he’d certainly add a much-needed goal threat to van Gaal’s side.

However, it looks like United will have to fight off some stiff competition as the Mirror reported earlier today that Liverpool are pushing hard to try and complete a deal for the Colombian international.

It’s gearing up to be a fascinating battle between the two English giants but both clubs better be prepared to dig deep if they want to sign Bacca as the Daily Star claim his release clause is set at £25m and Sevilla are highly unlikely to do business for anything less.

If United end up winning the race then it could be part of a stunning double swoop on Sevilla as the Star also claim that van Gaal is eyeing a move for central midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak.

There’s little doubt United have been overly reliant on Michael Carrick over the last couple of seasons and they missed him greatly when he was injured last season, so another holding player is most certainly needed at Old Traford and Krychowiak would be an interesting option.

The 25-year-old has just enjoyed an excellent campaign in Spain but once again United will have to fight off a Premier League rival as the Daily Star suggest that Arsenal are also showing a keen interest in the Polish international.

With Mikel Arteta coming towards the end of his career and Mathieu Flamini likely to leave, I’d expect Arsene Wenger to bring in another midfielder and Krychowiak appears to be on the Gunners’ radar.

Sevilla are likely to be desperate to keep hold of the Pole but the decision may be taken out of their hands as the newspaper claims Krychowiak has a £21.3m buy-out clause in his contract, so there’s little they could do if the likes of United or Arsenal match that figure.

It’s going to be interesting to see whether United can fend off interest from their rivals to land both Bacca and Krychowiak this summer. If they do, then they’ll need to fork-out £46.3m, but I think that could prove to be a shrewd piece of business from the Red Devils if they could pull it off.
