Chelsea Blow As Key Target Agrees Terms With Man Utd Ahead Of £29m Move
Chelsea have received a major transfer blow as Arda Turan has agreed personal terms with Manchester United ahead of a proposed £29m move to Old Trafford
With the summer transfer window finally open for business, managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads ahead of next season so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, more on the future of Arda Turan….
Chelsea have received a major transfer blow as Arda Turan has agreed personal terms with Manchester United ahead of a proposed £29m move to Old Trafford, according to the Metro.
Turan is one of the hottest properties in the summer transfer window after his agent Ahmet Bulut was quoted by ESPN as saying last week that the winger wants to leave Atletico Madrid.
The players representative then put a number of English clubs on red alert after confirming that the Turkish international is keen to try his luck here in the Premier League but warned any interested party would have to pay his €41m (£29m) release clause.
“[Arda] intends to leave Spain this summer,”
“His wish is to leave to play in the Premier League, at this moment that is the path he would like to take to further his career. His exit from Atletico is not something easy, as he has a release clause of €41 million. There are conversations under way with three teams, at the moment I cannot say the names, but they are the best teams in England and European football.”
“It’s true, Milan and PSG are two of the six teams which have shown an interest in him, but the Italian team are not one of his options, as they are not playing in the Champions League. PSG are a possibility, but Arda always wanted to test himself in England.”
Bulut is quoted as saying by ESPN
Following his agents comments, Turan was soon being linked with all the top clubs in the Premier League but Chelsea appeared to emerge as favourites for the 28-year-old’s signature as the Daily Mail reported earlier this week that the Blues had held talks with the winger and he was supposedly keen to work with Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge
However, the Metro cite conflicting reports coming out of Turkey today with broadcaster TRT Spor claiming Turan has now agreed personal terms with Manchester United and is on the verge of a move to Old Trafford.
TRT Spor’s Futbol Günlüğü presenter Ersin Düzen made the claim, and suggests that Turan’s move to United is imminent after the Red Devils agreed to trigger his £29m release clause.
With so many conflicting reports circulating it’s difficult to know what to believe right now but one thing is for sure and that’s Turan would be an excellent signing for either club if United or Chelsea could pull it off this summer.
He’s been one of Diego Simeone’s most reliable performers in recent years and played a key role in Atletico’s La Liga title triumph in 2014. He’d predominantly been played from the right-wing at the Vicente Claderon but is capable of playing anywhere across the attacking positions, so he’d give Mourinho or van Gaal plenty of options in attack.
We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming days but I’d love to see Turan come to the Premier League as he has all the attributed to be a real success here.
