Chelsea Willing To Hand £22m Liverpool Target 4-Year Deal, Player Confirms Offers

Chelsea and Liverpool target Pedro has confirmed he’s received ‘important offers’ with the Blues understood to be willing to hand him a four-year deal

With the summer transfer window finally open for business, managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads ahead of next season so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Pedro casts doubt on Barcelona future….

Chelsea and Liverpool target Pedro Rodriguez has confirmed he’s received ‘important offers’ with the Blues understood to be willing to hand him a four-year deal to leave Barcelona this summer, according to the Mirror.

Pedro appeared to commit his future to the Nou Camp after signing a new contract extension last month but the Guardian claim that the new deal saw his buy-out clause reduce from €150m (£106m) to a far more affordable €30m (£21.5m).

I think that’s a clear sign that Barca may be willing to do business for the Spanish attacker and it led to intense speculation that he could be heading for the Premier League this summer with the Mirror reporting that Chelsea and Liverpool are among the clubs showing a keen interest.

The Daily Mail claimed over the weekend that the Blues were ready to steal a march on their rivals by meeting the new release clause after Jose Mourinho made Pedro one of his key summer transfer targets.

The 27-year-old has now fuelled the speculation even further after confirming that he’s received ‘important offers’ to leave Barcelona this summer and admitted his situation is becoming ‘very difficult’ at the club due to a lack of regular playing time.

“It’s true I have received important offers but don’t want to say more out of respect for my club.

“My situation is complicated because I want to play a lot of minutes but that is becoming very difficult at Barcelona.” Pedro is quoted as saying by the Mirror

The Mirror claim that Chelsea are willing to offer Pedro a four-year deal to move to Stamford Bridge and the attacker is understood to have already spoken with former team-mate Cesc Fabregas about life in West London.

Pedro is due to return to pre-season training on Wednesday and is likely to seek assurances over his place in Luis Enrique’s team before making any decision over his future but I personally wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if he decides to look for a new challenge.

The Spaniard is already behind the likes of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar but will fall even further down the pecking order following the arrival of Arda Turan from Atletico Madrid.

With the European Championships coming up next summer, Pedro is going to need regular action if he wants to secure his place in Vicente Del Bosque’s side and he just isn’t going to get the required minutes at Barca.

As is stands, Chelsea look to be in the driving seat if Pedro opts to come to England but there is still time for the likes of Liverpool to hijack their move and Brendan Rodgers may be able to offer the attacker even more guaranteed minutes than he’d expect to get at Stamford Bridge.

With Raheem Sterling set to join Man City [via BBC], Rodgers needs to bring in another versatile attacker and Pedro would be ideal as he’s able to play out wide or through the middle as a central striker.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming days but I think Pedro would be an excellent signing for either Chelsea or Liverpool and I’d love to see him playing in the Premier League next season.
