Arsenal secured the Emirates Cup for the first time since 2010 after Theo Walcott’s goal was enough to beat Wolfsburg 1-0 this afternoon.
Wolfsburg started brightly and could have taken the lead early on but we slowly grew into the match and finished the stronger of the two teams as the first half ended goalless.
We then broke the deadlock just after the break when youngster Jeff Reine Adelaide did well to set up Walcott who cooly slotted home for 1-0 in the 50th minute.
We controlled the game from then on and should have put the match to bed but spurned some good chances to add a second.
However, we held out to secure the three points and win the Emirates Cup ahead of second-placed Villarreal.
The win was our fourth successive pre-season victory so we should be full of confidence heading into the Community Shield against Chelsea next weekend.
