By on August 8, 2015

Manchester United get the new Premier League season underway when they host Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford today.

Louis van Gaal has stuck to his word and left No.1 goalkeeper David De Gea out of the squad with Sergio Romero coming in to make his debut.

Matteo Darmian also makes his competitive debut at right-back with the Italian playing alongside Chris Smalling, Daley Blind and Luke Shaw in defence.

Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay are the other two debutantes for United while Wayne Rooney skippers the side.

Tottenham No.1 Hugo Lloris is only deemed fit enough for a place on the bench while Toby Alderweireld makes his competitive debut at the back.

Eric Dier starts in midfield alongside Nabel Bentaleb with Ryan Mason only on the bench after recently recovering from injury.
