[Tweets] Depay, Schweinsteiger & More Celebrate Online After Man Utd Beat Spurs
Manchester United players have been reacting online after they began the new season with a narrow 1-0 win over Tottenham at Old Trafford this afternoon.
United weren’t at their best and it needed an own goal from Kyle Walker midway through the first half to secure the victory but three points are all that matters at this point in the season.
The game saw summer signings Matteo Darmian, Morgan Schneiderlin, Sergio Romero and Memphis Depay make their competitive debuts at Old Trafford while Bastian Schweinsteiger was also introduced in the second half to make his bow.
Four of the quintet – Darmian, Depay, Schneiderlin and Schweinsteiger – have all taken to Twitter this evening to celebrate an important opening day win and to thank the United fans for their support.
Several other players have taken to social media sites to celebrate the win over Tottenham with the likes of Ashley Young, Daley Blind, Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo and Ander Herrera also having their say on Twitter, while skipper Wayne Rooney posted a message on Instagram.
The win ensures United get the new season off to a winning start and van Gaal may be quietly confident his side can surprise a few people this year and really push for the title. The Red Devils are currently available at odds of 10/1 to lift the title next May but if you do fancy a bet on United, then make sure to you this William Hill promo code to take advantage of their great offers.
