Arsenal controversially left Stamford Bridge on the end of a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea after having both Gabriel and Santi Cazorla sent off, with Kurt Zouma and Eden Hazard scoring the goals for the hosts.

Here are player ratings from Gooner Mac:

Cech  6/10 | Solid enough on his return to the Bridge. Made a couple of routine saves and could do nothing for either goal.

Bellerin  6/10 | Linked up well with Walcott in the early stages and always keen to get forward, but attacking instincts curbed after sending off.

Gabriel  5/10 | Was having a very good game until he got sucked into the trap by Costa. Stupid to take the bait but the Chelsea man should have gone before his needless kick out.

Koscielny  6/10 | Was at fault for the first goal after playing Zouma onside, but was otherwise very good at the back.

Monreal  6/10 | Solid display from the Spaniard and dealt with the threat of Pedro well.

Coquelin  7/10 | Was excellent in midfield before being forced off at half time with a knee injury. Let’s hope it isn’t serious.

Cazorla  5/10 | His poor run of form continues. Sloppy in possession and got himself needlessly sent off for two silly fouls.

Ramsey  6/10 | Worked hard, especially when we went down to 10, but missed a great chance just before the sending off.

Ozil  5/10 | A very quiet game. He’s not the type of player to roll up his sleeves when we’re a man down away from home. We needed more from him.

Alexis  6/10 | Tried to make things happen but it wasn’t to be his day as nothing came off for him.

Walcott  7/10 | Always on the shoulder of defenders looking to run behind, Theo was our only real threat going forward. Isolated in the second half though.

Subs:

Chambers  6/10 | Unlucky with the deflected goal in stoppage time.

Giroud  5/10 | Did little in his 15 minute cameo

Oxlade-Chamberlain 5/10 | See above

So another big game was ruined by controversial refereeing and it’s difficult to know how Costa managed to stay on the pitch today yet two Arsenal players got sent off.

But the history books will simply say an Arsenal defeat and we need to pick ourselves up quickly and get back to winning ways against Tottenham in the League Cup.
