Arsenal Team News: Boss Reveals Fresh Injury Blow But Star To Return v Everton

Arsene Wenger has confirmed a fresh injury blow ahead of Saturday’s clash with Everton but a defender is set to return to the squad. Check the latest here.

Arsene Wenger has been speaking to the media this morning at his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday’s clash with Everton and he’s offered a team news and injury update.

The boss was pleased to confirm that Gabriel Paulista is back in full training and should be in contention to take on the Toffees this weekend after the Brazilian international recovered from the illness that’s seen him miss the last two matches.

We’ll have to wait and see whether Gabriel starts against Everton but I have a feeling the boss will stick with Per Mertesacker alongside Laurent Koscielny tomorrow and then play Gabriel against Sheffield Wednesday in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday.

Wenger also confirmed the disappointing news from yesterday that Aaron Ramsey has been ruled out for up to four weeks after picking up a hamstring injury against Bayern Munich in midweek.

The Welshman is now set to miss our next five games against Everton, Sheffield Wednesday, Swansea, Bayern Munich and Tottenham before hopefully returning after the international break.

The boss also revealed a fresh injury blow as Mikel Arteta has been ruled out of tomorrow’s match after picking up an injury in training yesterday.

There are no further details as to how serious it is but hopefully Arteta’s not out for too long as our options in midfield are now thin on the ground with Ramsey joining Jack Wilshere and Tomas Rosicky on the sidelines.

This is what Arsene told reporters this morning:
