Jurgen Klopp will look to build on last night’s League Cup win as Liverpool take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon. Here is the side I think the German will pick:
Goalkeeper: Simon Mignolet is expected to return between the sticks despite Adam Bodgan keeping a clean sheet against Bournemouth last night.
Defence: Klopp will make wholesale changes to his starting eleven with goal-scorer Nathaniel Clyne likely to be the only player who retains his place from the Capital One Cup victory.
Martin Skrtel and Mamadou Sakho should come back in to the defence with Dejan Lovren dropping out and Kolo Toure is set to miss at least two weeks after suffering a hamstring injury last night. Alberto Moreno will complete the back four.
Midfield: Emre Can was given the night off while Lucas Leiva was a second half substitute against Bournemouth but both should be restored to the midfield against Chelsea. James Milner returns from a one-game ban and could be deployed just in front of the duo if Klopp wants another body in the centre of the park to try and control the midfield.
Attack: That could see Philippe Coutinho play from the right while Adam Lallana is set for a recall to the starting eleven after being a late substitute last time out. Roberto Firmino was in good form against Bournemouth but he’s only just back from injury so he’s unlikely to start twice in four days.
Daniel Sturridge has once again been ruled out due to a niggling knee injury but Liverpool are set to welcome back Christian Benteke with Klopp saying the striker should recover from a minor knee injury.
Here is how I think we’ll see Liverpool line-up:
