Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has provided a team news and injury update ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash with West Bromwich Albion.

van Gaal has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and confirmed that Morgan Schneiderlin could be back in contention to face the Baggies tomorrow.

The French international missed Tuesday’s 1-0 victory over CSKA Moscow in the Champions League due to illness and although the midfielder is still feeling the effects, he is able to train today and should be in the squad this weekend.

The United boss also revealed that Antonio Valencia will once again miss out with an ankle injury that’s already seem him miss the last three games while Matteo Darmian will have to serve a one-game suspension after picking up his fifth booking of the campaign against Crystal Palace.

With both Valencia and Darmian unavailable for selection, Ashley Young is expected to once again deputise at right-back after filling in against CSKA Moscow in midweek.

van Gaal told ManUtd.com:

“There are no injuries, only illnesses,”

“Morgan Schneiderlin was ill. He shall train today for the first time so we have to wait and see. I cannot say there are a lot of changes for this game. Matteo Darmian is suspended so he cannot play and Valencia is injured.”

Otherwise van Gaal has no fresh injury worries to contend with. Luke Shaw continues to make good progress on his recovery from a broken leg but there was no update on the fitness of either James Wilson [knock] or Paddy McNair [abdominal] so we’ll just have to wait and see if they are involved tomorrow.

United head into the weekend action sitting fourth in the table after last weeks 0-0 draw at Selhurst Park so van Gaal will be looking to close the four-point gap on leaders Manchester City with victory over West Brom tomorrow afternoon.
