Arsenal have been handed a major injury boost after Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain confirmed he’s closing in on his comeback after stepping up his recovery from a hamstring injury.

The 22-year-old has missed our last three games after being forced off during the opening stages of our Capital One Cup defeat at Sheffield Wednesday last month having picked up a hamstring strain.

Boss Arsene Wenger has always been hopeful that Oxlade-Chamberlain could return to action after the international break and it seems that could be a reality after the star posted a positive injury update on Instagram.

The Ox shared a video of him doing sprint work in training and posted an accompanying message that said “The rehab is going well, 80-90% sprints today…looking forward to being back on the pitch soon”.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is now expected to continue to up his work-load over the next week and as long as he doesn’t suffer any setbacks, he could be in contention to return to the squad for the trip to West Brom next weekend.

That would be a major boost as we’ve seen our options in attack decimated in recent months with the likes of Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey, Danny Welbeck, Theo Walcott and Tomas Rosicky also on the sidelines through injury.

However, it looks like Chamberlain is now close to making his comeback and it shouldn’t be too long before Ramsey is also back in contention as he’s in the final stages of recovering from a hamstring problem, so we could have more options in attack when we head to the Hawthorne’s next Saturday.

Here’s the post Oxlade-Chamberlain shared on Instagram:
