Liverpool vs Swansea Preview, Team News, Line-Ups, Betting Tips & Predicted Score
Liverpool entertain Swansea City at Anfield on Sunday afternoon. Here’s a preview with team news, likely line-ups, betting tips and predicted score.
Liverpool will look to continue their recent good form when they take on Swansea City at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
The Reds come into the game off the back of a hugely impressive 4-1 victory over Manchester City at the Etihad last weekend and they followed that up with a 2-1 win over Bordeaux on Thursday night to secure their progression to the knockout stages of the Europa League.
However, despite the obvious boost Jurgen Klopp’s arrival has given Liverpool, the German is still seeking his first league win at Anfield so he’ll be desperate to achieve that feat tomorrow afternoon.
Swansea arrive on Merseyside in poor form having won just one league game since the end of August to leave them sitting 14th in the table and just four points off the relegation zone, so Garry Monk will be keen to ease the pressure on his head by picking up a positive result this weekend.
Philippe Coutinho is likely to be back in contention after missing the Bordeaux clash with a minor hamstring injury that he picked up against City last weekend.
Klopp will make a late decision on Daniel Sturridge’s involvement after he complained of pain in his foot in midweek but the striker is expected to be on the bench at best as the club are being extremely cautious with his fitness.
Lucas Leiva is suspended to Joe Allen is set to deputise in midfield while Klopp has expressed his concern over Christian Benteke’s ability to play twice in three days so Roberto Firmino could start up front as he did against City.
Martin Skrtel is set to return from illness but Mamadou Sakho is out with a knee injury while Jordan Henderson could be on the bench after returning to full training.
As for Swansea, Jonjo Shelvey misses the game against his former club through suspension after picking up five bookings but Federico Fernandez, Jack Cork, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Jefferson Montero are set for recalls to the starting eleven.
Liverpool 2-0 Swansea: The Swans are in dire form and look like a side that have lost confidence in their manager so I can’t see past anything other than a home win tomorrow.
Liverpool are the 1/2 favourites with the bookmakers but Football-Talk can get you enhanced odds of 5/1 on a Reds win if you click here. My prediction of 2-0 is on offer at odds of 6/1 and I also like the look of Firmino opening the score at 9/2. If we combine those two bets in a score-cast, then we get very tempting odds of 18/1.
