According to the Mirror, Arsenal have been dealt a double injury blow with Alexis Sanchez and Santi Cazorla set to miss our key Champions League clash at Olympiakos next week.

Sanchez limped out of our 1-1 draw at Norwich on Sunday afternoon after suffering a hamstring injury midway through the second half.

Arsene Wenger admitted after the game he was fearing the worst and it seems those concerns were well placed as the Mirror claim Sanchez has been ruled out for at least three weeks.

The Chilean international had hoped it was just a kick but the newspaper says he’s suffered a hamstring pull and will now not only miss Saturday’s clash with Sunderland, but will also sit out our crunch Champions League clash with Olympiakos.

In what is a double blow, the paper also claims that Cazorla will miss the trip to Greece after picking up a knee injury at the weekend.

The Spaniard was able to complete the full ninety minutes but was in some discomfort during the second half after taking a kick to his right leg and the fear is he’s suffered ligament damage.

Santi will have further scans to determine the full extent of the problem but the Mirror believe he’s certain to miss the Olympiakos game where we need to win by two clear goals, or by 3-2, 4-3, etc, to qualify for the knockout stages.

It’s a difficult task in itself but has now been made even harder with the loss of two key players like Sanchez and Cazorla, so we really do have a mountain to climb.

Our injury situation just seems to get worse but on this occasion we really only have ourselves to blame – particularly in the case of Sanchez as Arsene admitted before the game he was carrying a hamstring problem.

The good news is that Aaron Ramsey and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain made their returns from injury recently so we do have players ready to step-in, but it’s still a huge blow to lose Sanchez and Cazorla for any period of time.
