Liverpool vs West Brom Preview, Team News, Line-Ups, Betting Tips & Predicted Score
Liverpool take West Bromwich Albion at Anfield on Sunday afternoon. Here’s a preview with team news, likely line-ups, betting tips and predicted score.
Liverpool will look to get back to winning ways when they take on West Bromwich Albion at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
The Merseysiders warmed up for the game with a 0-0 draw away to FC Sion on Thursday night which secured Liverpool’s position as group winners as they safely made it through to the knockout stages of the competition.
But it’s back to domestic matters this weekend and the Reds saw their impressive run end with a 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United at St James’ Park last weekend which leaves them sitting 10th in the Premier League table.
However, victory would see them move level on points with fifth placed Tottenham Hotspur so Jurgen Klopp will be desperate to collect all three points on home soil tomorrow afternoon.
West Brom arrive on Merseyside off the back of an impressive run that’s seen them beat Arsenal before drawing with West Ham and Tottenham, so Tony Pulis will be hoping to take away another positive result at Anfield.
Liverpool have been boosted by the return to fitness of Philippe Coutinho after he made a cameo appearance off the bench in midweek having recovered from a hamstring injury.
Klopp is set to recall a number of players to the first team with Martin Skrtel, Lucas Leiva and Alberto Moreno all set to start after being rested on Thursday night.
With Daniel Sturridge out with a hamstring injury, Christian Benteke is set to come in for Divock Origi in attack while Jordan Henderson should start in midfield after making his long-awaited comeback recently.
Mamadou Sakho is back in training after recovering from a hamstring problem but this game comes too soon so he remains unavailable but Jordon Ibe is back in contention after recovering from illness.
West Brom will be without Stephane Sessegnon after he picked up a hamstring injury against Tottenham but Claudio Yacob is back after suspension.
Liverpool 2-0 West Brom: The Reds were poor against Newcastle last weekend but I expect Klopp to get a response from his players tomorrow afternoon on home soil. The Baggies will no doubt put up a tough fight but I think we’ll see Liverpool ease to a 2-0 win.
Liverpool are the 4/9 favourites with the bookmakers but Football-Talk can get you enhanced odds of 3/1 on a Reds win if you click here. My prediction of 2-0 is on offer at odds of 24/5 and I also like the look of Benteke opening the score at 3/1. If we combine those two bets in a score-cast, then we get very tempting odds of 10/1.
