[Photos] Ozil Enjoys Winter Break On Yacht As Wenger Looks Set To Rest Arsenal Star

Mesut Ozil has been enjoying a mini winter break ahead of the Man City game amid reports Arsene Wenger is set to rest the Arsenal playmaker.

Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil has uploaded photos of himself enjoying a well earned winter break ahead of Monday night’s crucial Premier League clash with Manchester City.

Ozil has been in sensational form in recent weeks with the German international providing his 13th assist of the season during Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Aston Villa.

With rumours of Ozil complaining of a tight calf circulating prior to the game at Villa Park and eight days until we entertain City at the Emirates, it probably comes as no surprise to learn that the player has been given a few days off to recuperate.

I’m sure Arsene Wenger sees this is a mini-winter break for Ozil and the player has taken to Instagram to upload a couple of photos of him sunning it up on a yacht this afternoon.

This comes as the Evening Standard report that Wenger is planning to hand Ozil a rest during the hectic festive period that sees us play four league games in just 14 days.

Ozil is fully expected to start against City on Monday but after that game we travel to Southampton on Boxing Day before playing Bournemouth and Newcastle in the space of three days, and the newspaper says Wenger will rest Ozil for one of those matches.

If I was a betting man, I’d suggest that the boss would pick Bournemouth at home as the ideal opportunity to give Mesut a breather and it seems a sensible precaution to try and prevent him becoming the latest player to pick up an injury.

Here are the photos Mesut shared on Instagram today:
