3 Reasons Why Arsenal Will Beat Manchester City

Arsenal take on Manchester City on Monday night. Here are three reasons why we believe Arsenal will get the job done over Manuel Pellegrini on Monday:

After a poor November Arsenal have turned things around to start December and could be top of the Premier League come Christmas Day.

The Gunners have recorded comfortable back-to-back victories over Sunderland and Aston Villa in the Premier League and reached the second round of the Champions League via a 3-0 thrashing of Olympiacos in Greece.

Monday night football sees Arsenal host Manchester City in which either side could go top of the Premier League should Leicester City slip up at Everton.

Arsene Wenger’s side currently trail the Foxes by two points, sitting one point above City. Here are three reasons why we believe Arsenal will get the job done over Manuel Pellegrini on Monday:

Vincent Kompany

The Manchester City defence has been woeful in the absence of their captain and Vincent Kompany will not be ready to make his return in this match either.

Nicolas Otamendi’s position has been poor since his move from Valencia in the summer and after a season-and-a-half in the Premier League, Eliaquim Mangala is still way below the quality levels that the club had been hoping for.

The stats speak for themselves – Manchester City have conceded just one goal in the eight Premier League games Vincent Kompany has started this season and not kept a single clean sheet in the eight games he’s been sidelined.

Olivier Giroud is in fine goalscoring form at the moment and will be eager to take chances that fall his way at the Emirates on Monday.

Sergio Aguero

One of the best footballers in the world… when he’s fit. Unfortunately for Manchester City it feels like Sergio Aguero never is fit. The Argentine is unlikely to make the trip to North London on Monday, having only played twice since the start of October due to a foot injury, and even if he does he won’t be 100% fit.

In his place is Wilfried Bony. The Ivorian striker has yet to settle in at the Etihad following his move nearly 12 months ago. Three goals in his 13 league appearances has not been helpful for a club who are the favourites to win the league this season.

If you’re backing Bony to score against Petr Cech you would be wise to consider taking a punt at the casino instead – better odds, and quite frankly, a better chance of winning. Casino online is getting more and more popular or as they say in Norway ”casino på nett”.

Bony has the playmakers around him but his positioning has not been there very often at City. These days he can often be seen resorting to ambitious long-range attempts instead.

Mesut Ozil

The German playmaker has been involved in more goals for Arsenal this season than any other player. In the number 10 role he has a good match up with Yaya Toure being a lazy defensive midfielder. Should be an interesting battle with Fernandinho at least but we’d expect Mesut Ozil to come out on top of that one.

With Theo Walcott down one wing, Olivier Giroud a target man up front, and Aaron Ramsey making runs into the box, Ozil has good targets to pick out. On top of that, City’s two centre-backs aren’t great at all positioning and we’d expect the 2014 World Cup winner to slice them open with his passes.

Arsenal to beat Manchester City? We’re confident. Are you?
