Arsenal Lodge Record Bid For 27-Goal Hitman

A top Spanish journalist claims that Arsenal have tabled a club record £44.6m bid for Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports

With the winter transfer window now open for business, manager’s are working hard trying to strengthen their squads ahead of the second half of the season. Today, Arsenal have reportedly tabled a huge bid for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang…

A top Spanish journalist claims that Arsenal have tabled a club record £44.6m bid for Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to a report in the Metro.

Arsene Wenger has openly admitted he will look to dip into the winter transfer market to strengthen his squad after seeing his options decimated by serious injuries to key players during the first half of the campaign.

Most believe a central midfielder is the priority for the Frenchman with Mohamed Elneny tipped to become our first new addition this month [source ESPN], but it looks as though the boss also has his eye on a new striker.

The Metro are reporting a story from Spanish journalist Kike Marin who claimed on Twitter today that Arsenal have submitted a mammoth €60m (£44.6m) offer for Borussia Dortmund hitman Aubameyang.

Here is Marin’s tweet:

The Gabon international has long been linked with a move to the Emirates but it appears Arsene has formalised his interest with what would be a club record deal if he could pull it off.

Marin works for Spanish outlet El Confidencial and shot to predominance after being one of the first journalists to confirm our move for Alexis Sanchez so understandably fans are getting excited over his latest claims.

It remains to be seen how much truth there is behind all of this but Aubameyang would be a sensational signing if we could somehow lure him to North London as the 26-year-old is the most in-form striker in European football having scored 27 goals in 27 games in all competitions for Dortmund this season.

I personally don’t think the Bundesliga outfit would contemplate cashing-in on the striker mid-season but I suppose if the money is right, we might have a chance of tempting them, so it’s worth keeping a close eye on how this story develops.
