Arsenal Team News Update: Wenger Confirms Triple Injury Boost

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed a triple injury boost ahead of tomorrow’s FA Cup third round clash with Sunderland. Find out all the details here

Danny-Welbeck

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed a triple injury boost with Danny Welbeck and Tomas Rosicky closing in on making their comebacks while Mikel Arteta is now available for selection.

Welbeck hasn’t featured for the Arsenal first team in over eight months after suffering a knee injury against Chelsea way back in April of last year.

The problem was initially thought to be a minor one but it turned out to be far worse than expected and the attacker was ruled out for several months after being forced to undergo surgery in September.

However, it looks as though Welbeck is now edging closer to making his comeback as Wenger has confirmed the 25-year-old is likely to return in three weeks, meaning he should play a major role during the second half of the season.

The boss also revealed that Rosicky is now ‘not far away’ from making his own comeback after finally recovering from a knee cartilage injury that he picked up back in June.

The Czech international is due back in full training at some point this month so we could see the 35-year-old back in the squad before February is all goes well.

In a further boost, Wenger says Mikel Arteta is now ‘available’ after the Spaniard stepped-up his recovery with a 45 minute run out for the under-21’s on Tuesday afternoon.

With the likes of Francis Coquelin, Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere still injured, I’d say there’s a good chance Arteta will be involved in our FA Cup third round clash against Sunderland tomorrow afternoon.

Here is what the boss told reporters at his pre-match press conference earlier:
