[Video Highlights] Liverpool 0-1 Man Utd: Rooney Strike Sinks Reds

Wayne Rooney scored the only goal of the game as Manchester United beat Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

Liverpool had the better of the first half with Roberto Firmino and Jordan Henderson missing the best of the chances as the game went into the break at 0-0.

The Merseysiders continued to push for the opening goal in the second half with David De Gea denying Firmino again with an excellent save midway through the second half.

Liverpool were made to pay for not converting their dominance into goals as United took the lead in the 78th minute when the former Everton youngster fired home after Marouane Fellaini’s header had come back off the bar.

The hosts couldn’t find an equaliser so United left Anfield with a crucial win that sees them climb to fifth in the Premier League table and to within two points of fourth-placed Tottenham.

The result was a huge blow to Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp’s side remain ninth and eight point adrift of the Champions League qualification places.
