Manchester United take on FC Midtjylland in the second leg of their Europa League last-32 tie at Old Trafford on Thursday night. Here is the side I think van Gaal will pick:

Goalkeeper: David de Gea has been ruled out once again after failing to recover from a knee injury that he picked up during the warm-up shortly before last Thursday’s first leg so Sergio Romero will continue in goal.

Defence: van Gaal has problems in defence as Cameron Borthwick-Jackson is a major doubt after failing to take part in training today having been forced off during Monday night’s FA Cup win at Shrewsbury. If the youngster is ruled out then we could see Paddy McNair come in to the back four.

Chris Smalling also failed to train today after picking up a knock while colliding with an advertising board on Monday but the centre-back is expected to be passed fit while Guillermo Varela could start at right-back.

Marcos Rojo will be on the bench after returning to training following several weeks out with a dislocated shoulder but Matteo Darmian, Phil Jones, Antonio Valencia, Luke Shaw and Ashley Young remain unavailable.

Midfield: Michael Carrick could get a recall in midfield and he should partner Morgan Schneiderlin with Ander Herrera possibly moving in to a more advanced role. Bastian Schweinsteiger remains out with a niggling knee injury while Marouane Fellaini has been ruled out with a hamstring problem.

Attack: Wayne Rooney remains out with a knee injury so Anthony Martial should continue to lead the line up front and he should be supported by Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata. Memphis Depay could be the man to miss out.

Here is how we think United will line-up:

What do you think? What line-up would you like to see start?
