[Video Goals] Arsenal 1-2 Watford: Gunners Crash Out To Guedioura Stunner

By on March 13, 2016

Arsenal’s hold of the FA Cup came to an abrupt end with Adlene Guedioura scoring what turned out to be a stunning winning goal as Watford booked their place in the last four with a 2-1 win at the Emirates this afternoon.

A largely forgettable first half only came to life when Gabriel was lucky to avoid any action after catching Troy Deeney with a nasty two-footed challenge as the sides went in 0-0 at the break.

However, it didn’t take long before the deadlock was broken in the second half as Deeney’s flick on found Odion Ighalo and the striker held off Gabriel’s challenge to fire past David Ospina for 0-1 in the 50th minute.

Arsenal’s response was non-existent and the Hornets seized the initiative to double their lead in spectacular fashion as Guedioura slammed home a stunning effort in to the top corner of Ospina’s net in the 63rd minute.

We eventually started to create some chances during the closing stages of the game and pulled one back in the 88th minute when Danny Welbeck curled home into the bottom corner following a lovely one-two with Mesut Ozil.

The former Man Utd striker then had a golden chance to level things up but somehow managed to screw the ball wide of an open goal after a scramble in the box as Watford managed to hold on to secure their place at Wembley.
