[Player Ratings] Arsenal 4-0 Watford: Ozil & Iwobi Impress For Deadly Gunners
Mesut Ozil and Alex Iwobi impressed as Arsenal secured a comfortable 4-0 victory over Watford at the Emirates this afternoon. Here are my player ratings
Arsenal closed the gap on Tottenham and Leicester with a comfortable 4-0 victory over Watford at the Emirates this afternoon.
Alexis Sanchez opened the scoring early on before Alex Iwobi made it 2-0 just before half-time with a cool finish. A deflected strike from Hector Bellerin made it 3-0 shortly after the break before Theo Walcott wrapped things up in stoppage time.
Here are my player ratings from the game:
Ospina 6/10 | Comfortable game for the Colombian and he didn’t put a foot wrong, making a couple of routine stops.
Bellerin 8/10 | Capped off an impressive afternoon with a deflected goal to make it 3-0. A real threat down the right all game.
Gabriel 6/10 | Selected ahead of Per Mertesacker once again and did his bit to secure a second consecutive clean sheet.
Koscielny 6/10 | Dealt with the threat of Deeney and Ighalo with ease in a solid display at the back.
Monreal 7/10 | Defended well and got involved in the final third too, although his final ball was a little poor at times.
Elneny 7.5/10 | Another great performance from the Egyptian international as he kept the ball moving in midfield and did his bit defensively, too.
Coquelin 7.5/10 | Protected the back four but also made an impact going forward as he played a key role in the vital second goal.
Ozil 8.5/10 | Bossed the game as he dictated play with his sublime touches and passes. His superb long pass to Joel Campbell created the fourth goal.
Iwobi 8.5/10 | Set-up Alexis Sanchez for the opening goal with a fine ball before making it 2-0 with a well taken finish. So confident for one so young.
Alexis 8/10 | A real threat all game and he got his rewards with a goal and an assist.
Welbeck 6/10 | Worked hard and his movement caused Watford’s defence problems.
Giroud 5/10 | Saw a tame header saved after replacing Welbeck.
Walcott 7/10 | On hand to score the fourth with a close range finish in stoppage time.
Campbell 7/10 | Grabbed an excellent assist after setting up Theo for the final goal.
So the win sees us keep the pressure on the top two. If we can play like this during the final seven games of the season then we might just have a chance of pulling off something special…
