Arsenal, Chelsea & Man Utd On Alert As £40m Target Plans Talks Over Future

Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have been placed on red alert after a £40m target confirmed he’ll hold talks over his future at the end of the season

Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have been placed on red alert after Edinson Cavani confirmed he’ll hold talks with Paris Saint-Germain over his future at the end of the season, according to the Daily Star.

Cavani has long been linked with a move to the Premier League and the speculation has once again intensified in recent months after the striker’s reported fall-out with boss Laurent Blanc this season.

The Uruguayan international has had to play second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic ever since his big-money move from Napoli in 2013 with Blanc preferring the Swedish super-star as his central striker forcing Cavani to play out on the wing.

It’s led to reports of unrest in the PSG camp and Cavani has struggled to hold down a regular first team place with the 29-year-old managing just 24 minutes over the two legs during their Champions League last-16 win over Chelsea last month.

The uncertainty over his future has led to speculation Cavani could finally be heading to the Premier League with the Daily Star claiming that Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are all keen on signing the striker – who’s understood to be valued at £40m.

The trio have been placed on red alert as Cavani has now admitted he’ll hold talks with PSG officials over his future at the end of the season, although the South American has hinted he may be ready to stay at the Parc des Prince.

Cavani is quoted as saying by the Daily Star:

“At the end of the season, we will discuss my situation with the president. I am ready to continue with PSG,”

“I have gone through three difficult seasons at PSG, but the support of the fans is important. I am very happy with Ibrahimovic’s form and that he helps the team move forward.

“It is a very difficult moment for me, but I believe in myself. I am looking towards the future.”

Cavani’s comments come as something of a surprise as he’s regularly dropped hints that he’s ready to leave Paris in search of a new challenge and the whispers coming out of the club also indicate they may be ready to cash-in this summer.

However, with Ibrahimovic now set to leave PSG when his contract expires in June, perhaps Cavani is eyeing the central striking role that he’s craved ever since joining the French champions almost three years ago.

That would spell bad news for the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and United as Cavani would be a sensational signing if any of the Premier League giants could pull it off this summer.

All three teams could certainly do with a striker of his quality so I’m sure they’ll be watching on with interest over the coming weeks to see how Cavani’s future unfolds, but I’d love to see him come to England as he’d be an excellent addition to the Premier League.
