Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has made his prediction ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Swansea City this weekend.

The Blues have very little left to play for this season as a disastrous first half to the campaign left their title defence in tatters and now they need a minor miracle just to finish in the top four.

Guus Hiddink has certainly steadied the ship since his arrival in December and extended his unbeaten league run to 16 games with a 4-0 victory over Aston Villa at Villa Park last weekend.

However, despite that win, Chelsea remain languishing way down in tenth position in the Premier League table and a full ten points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester City with just seven games remaining.

Therefore, they need a win this weekend to stand any chance of qualifying for the Champions League next season and Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson believes it’s a good time for Chelsea to play Swansea and is backing the Blues take take home all three points from the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.

Writing in his column for Sky Sports, Merson said:

Swansea are pretty much safe for me. They had a good result last week coming back from 2-0 down to draw with Stoke.

But Chelsea haven’t been beaten for a while now in the league, and I can see them continuing that at the Liberty Stadium this weekend.

PAUL PREDICTS: 1-3

A win for Chelsea would keep alive their slim hopes of finishing in the top four for another week but realistically the Blues players are just playing for their futures ahead of Antonio Conte’s arrival as manager this summer.
