Ramsey Could Go As Wenger Prepares To Sell These 6 Arsenal Stars This Summer
Arsene Wenger is prepared to listen to offers for Aaron Ramsey, Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Kieran Gibbs, Calum Chambers and Carl Jenkinson
Arsene Wenger is ready to ditch his British core with the Arsenal boss prepared to listen to offers for Aaron Ramsey, Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Kieran Gibbs, Calum Chambers and Carl Jenkinson this summer, according to the Daily Mail.
Several years ago, Wenger decided to try and build a new-look squad around a British core but it’s safe to say that most of them have failed to live up to their potential and the boss looks set to cash-in on our homegrown players over the coming months.
The Daily Mail claim that Wenger is prepared to welcome offers for Gibbs, Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Chambers and Jenkinson this summer while Ramsey’s future is also understood to be uncertain.
Gibbs has lost his place to Nacho Monreal and has been restricted to playing second-fiddle to the Spaniard over the past 18 months, and as much as I’d love to see him stay to fight for his place, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he was to leave this summer.
Walcott has fallen out-of-favour since the turn of the year and his worrying form could see him out the door at the end of the season while Oxlade-Chamberlain has failed to progress as hoped following his move from Southampton in 2011.
There would be no shortage of interest in either attacker but as frustrating as they can be at times, I’d still be hugely disappointed if we lost both Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer.
However, the Daily Mail seem to think that the England international’s could be sold along with fellow Southampton graduate Chambers, who’s struggled to hold down a first team place since his arrival two years ago, while Jenkinson is expected to be sold on a permanent basis after spending the last two seasons out on loan with West Ham.
It wouldn’t really be a surprise if any of that quintet was to leave but perhaps the most shocking claim from the Daily Mail’s report is that they believe Ramsey could be another big-name casualty as Wenger looks to re-shape his midfield this summer.
The newspaper says that with Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka a prime target, Ramsey could find first team football harder to come by next year and Wenger is apparently not adverse to the idea of cashing-in on the Welshman.
With as many as six homegrown players available for transfer, the Mail suggest that Wenger has instructed his scouts to identify British talent under the age of 23 with Leicester defender Ben Chillwell and Fulham attacker Ryan Sessegnon among our targets.
As well as bringing in new players, the paper says Wenger is certain to retain England duo Jack Wilshere and Danny Welbeck while rising star Dan Crowley is also being earmarked to be fast-tracked to the first team squad.
It certainly sounds like it’s going to be a busy summer at the Emirates but no matter what the Daily Mail says, I’d be hugely surprised if we decided to sell all six of the players mentioned.

It would be a mammoth task replacing them all and Wenger has opted to keep a settled squad over the past two years and only bring in a couple of new players. Maybe this seasons capitulation was the final straw for the boss, but I still don’t see him making wholesale changes that would result in a huge turnover of players.
