Arsenal will be looking to close the gap on Tottenham when they take on Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Sunday afternoon. Here is the side Gooner Mac thinks Arsene Wenger will select for the game:

Goalkeeper: Petr Cech has been restored in goal over the last two games and I don’t see the boss changing things on Sunday.

Defence: Per Mertesacker came back in to the back four and was a calm head during our comfortable 2-0 win over West Brom on Thursday night so I think we’ll see the German giant retain his place ahead of Gabriel.

The rest of the back four should also remain unchanged with Laurent Koscielny, Hector Bellerin and Nacho Monreal all starting. Kieran Gibbs missed the West Brom game with a minor back injury but should be back in contention for a place in the squad on Sunday.

Midfield: Wenger recalled Aaron Ramsey to the midfield last night and the Welshman responded by putting in an excellent all-round performance, so I don’t see how he can be left out this weekend.

Francis Coquelin was the man to make way against the Baggies but I think we might see him recalled in order to give Mohamed Elneny a well-earned rest as the Egyptian international has played a lot of football lately.

Jack Wilshere could be named in the squad for the first time this season after finally overcoming a fractured leg but a place on the bench is the best he can hope for. Santi Cazorla is also edging closer to full fitness but for now he remains out along with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Attack: Alexis Sanchez is back to his best and got another two goals against West Brom so he’s certain to keep his place in attack alongside Mesut Ozil. Alex Iwobi continues to impress and with Theo Walcott out-of-favour, I think the youngster will also keep his place in attack.

Olivier Giroud failed to take his chance to regain his first team place after extending his goalless streak to 13 games last night so I think we’ll see Danny Welbeck recalled up front on Sunday.

Here is how I think we’ll see Arsenal line-up:

What do you think? What line-up would you like to see start?
