Arsenal have identified Riyah Mahrez as a prime transfer target this summer as Arsene Wenger looks to bring in at least two big-money signings, according to the Sun.
Wenger is under increasing pressure from large sections of the fan-base to spend big this summer after Arsenal blew their best chance to win the Premier League title in over a decade.
It appears the boss is ready to oblige as the Sun claim we’ve made Mahrez a key target with Wenger ready to make a formal move for the Algerian international at the end of the season.
Mahrez has been in sensational form this season as he’s played a key role in helping Claudio Ranieri’s men storm towards the title with the Foxes currently seven points clear with just three games remaining.
The 25-year-old has scored 17 goals and provided 10 assists so far this season which has not only seen him named in the PFA Team of the Season but he was also recently announced as the PFA Player of the Season.
No doubt Mahrez would be an excellent signing if we could pull it off and the Sun suggest that he could be available for as little as £25m, which would represent excellent value in today’s market if we could land him for that sort of money.
Should we be successful in signing Mahrez, he’s likely to come in as a direct replacement for Theo Walcott with the England international’s future at the Emirates in serious doubt after a hugely disappointing campaign.
We’ll have to wait and see how Leicester respond once we make our move for Mahrez but we could look to make it a double swoop on the champions-elect as the Sun claim that Wenger is also eyeing midfielder N’Golo Kante.
The French international has also played a pivotal role in Leicester’s impressive season and with Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini set to leave in June, it looks like Wenger has short-listed the 25-year-old as the ideal man to strengthen our options in the middle of the park.

It would be a huge blow to Leicester if they were to lose both Mahrez and Kante but what a double signing that would be if we could lure the duo to North London this summer.
I’m sure there will be plenty of competition for their signature’s but Wenger’s needs to show some real intent in the transfer market to get the fans back onside and he’d certain do that if he could land Mahrez and Kante.
