Paul Merson Offers His Prediction Ahead Of Man Utd’s Clash With Leicester

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has made his prediction ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Leicester City on Sunday afternoon.

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has made his prediction ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Leicester City on Sunday afternoon.

United head in to the weekend action sitting fifth in the table and five points adrift of Arsenal with a game in hand, and with 3rd and 4th place playing each other next weekend, the Red Devils still have a decent chance of making the top four.

In order to achieve that goal, a win over Leicester is needed but this game is all about the visitors and whether they can complete a sensational title win at Old Trafford tomorrow.

A win for Leicester would secure the title and complete a stunning campaign for Claudio Ranieri’s men but Louis van Gaal has insisted that his United side will do all they can to delay the Foxes celebrations.

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson also feels that United are going to spoil the party as he says it’s unthinkable that they would allow Leicester to win the title on their home soil, so is tipping United to edge it 2-1.

Writing in his column for Sky Sports, he said:

Manchester United v Leicester

If you’re a Manchester United fan you don’t want Leicester winning the Premier League on Sunday, that would be the last thing you need. If you’re the manager of Manchester United and that happens you’re in severe trouble.

Louis van Gaal is under pressure as it is. I know they’re in the FA Cup final, but if this team get beat at home and Leicester win the league in front of 75,000 of their fans? They aren’t going to be happy with that. No disrespect but if little Leicester go to big Manchester United and win the league – it’s embarrassing I’m afraid.

The story of winning it is unreal, but to put the icing on the cake and go and win it at one of the biggest football clubs in the world? Honestly, I’ve already thrown the book I’m reading into the sea because of Leicester.

But I don’t think it will happen, though, and Manchester United will win this game. I was very impressed with them in the first half of the FA Cup semi-final, and with Wayne Rooney playing a bit deeper they’re a better team.

We’ll have to wait and see whether Merson’s prediction proves accurate but a win for United would be a major boost in their hopes of finishing in the top four and it would also leave the door open for Tottenham to close the gap on Leicester ahead of their clash with Chelsea on Monday night.

If you agree with Merse and feel Man Utd will win, then….
