Liverpool Boss Confirms Major Injury Boost + Offers Sturridge & Henderson Updates

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed an injury boost ahead of Liverpool’s Europa League clash with Villarreal while he’s also given the latest on Sturridge and Henderson

Jurgen Klopp has been speaking at his pre-match press conference this afternoon ahead of Wednesday night’s Europa League semi-final second leg against Villarreal.

The Liverpool boss has given reporters the latest team and injury news and he was pleased to confirm a major piece of positive news with Emre Can set to return to the squad tomorrow night.

Can suffered ankle ligament damage during the Reds thrilling 4-3 victory over Borussia Dortmund in the quarter final stages last month and was initially ruled out for the rest of the season.

However, the German international has made a remarkable recovery and was able to return to full training on Monday afternoon as the midfielder was put through his paces along with those members of the first team who didn’t start against Swansea on Sunday afternoon.

It seems Can has proven his fitness as Klopp confirmed at his press conference this afternoon that the 22-year-old will be back in the squad to face Villarreal on Thursday night, although it’s not clear if he’ll be deemed fit to start.

Klopp was also quizzed about the involvement of Daniel Sturridge after the striker was left out of key games in recent weeks, and while the Reds boss confirmed the striker is in his thoughts, he refused to confirm whether Sturridge would start tomorrow.

The final update was on Jordan Henderson as Klopp suggested that the midfielder is unlikely to play again for Liverpool this season due to a knee injury but should recover in time to be involved with the England squad at Euro 2016.

Liverpool welcome Villarreal to Anfield tomorrow night needing to overturn a 1-0 deficit after the Spaniard’s scored a last gasp winner in last weeks first leg, but the Merseysiders should be confident of turning things around to book their place in the Europa League final.

Here is what Klopp told reporters today:
